American Log Restoration & M&M Log Home Care Now Have Thermal Imaging!

Are you tired of paying too much to heat your log home? Are you feeling a draft from between the logs on your home? These are all very common problems with older and even some newer log homes. Many log home companies advertise a “chink-less” design style where a tongue and groove or foam gasket take the place of tradition chinking or caulking. Even these homes can settle and leave you with air spaces. The smallest gaps can let in lots of cold air and cost hundreds of dollars in heating costs.
American Log Restoration and M&M Log Home Care now have the technology to help you determine where you’re loosing heat! Themal Imaging has helped to save log home owners hundreds of dollar in heating expenses. We can determine the problem areas and find solutions to turn your log home into a more efficient home.

Circleville, Ohio - Log Replacement Project
We recently completed a rather large log replacement project in Circleville, Ohio this past fall. The project included replacement of 50-60% of the logs on the building. The client also had us do some interior work. Posts and beams were added in place of walls to give the log cabin a more open feel. There was also an addition off the back which included log accents on the interior and exterior to help incorporate the conventional structure with the original log home.
Here is a before and after shot of the project. Staining and chinking was completed shortly after the log replacement by M&M Log Home Care. You can see more photos on our Featured Projects page.

Spring Log Home Restoration

Spring is around the corner and if you are looking to get work done this season, now is the time to contact us for a full log home inspection. We can make a site visit, determine what logs need to be replaced if any, and get you estimates for corn cob blasting, staining, sealing and chinking or caulking. Whatever services you need, no job is too big or too small.
Spring is a great time to inspect your log home. Check to make sure down-spouts and rain gutters are working properly and have not been damaged by ice or snow built up. Check under windows and around doors or near corners for rotting logs. Has snow been sitting on any of the ledges on your home or on any of the corner logs that stick out? Look for discoloration and also for peeling sealant and stain. Are your logs grey and dull? Or maybe they have black mold or are turning green from moisture build up. These are all signs that you need to have a professional come in and inspect your home.
